Conferences:

CNS-UCSB hosts annual conferences, alternating large international conferences with smaller, more specialized meetings.

Coming in November, 2009:

NanoEquity 2009, to be held November 4-6 in Washington, D.C., will focus on how nanotechnology could help solve some of the world's most critical problems, including shortages of food and clean water, pandemic diseases, and environmental degradation. It will bring together leaders from government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, science and technology, and academia. Participants from the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as China, India, Brazil and other developing countries, will exchange ideas and experiences and work together to find solutions to problems in four broad areas: energy/environment, water, food security, and health, and to bridge the gap between the developed and developing worlds. For more information, please visit the NanoEquity 2009 website.

Nano-Meeters:

These free public events (formerly called Nano-Cafes) explore different topics related to nanotechnology; past subjects include nanotechnology in medicine, and China's role in nanotechnology development. At Nano-Meeters, Professors from UC Santa Barbara present an overview of the topic and then participants can take part in an informal question-and-answer session. Nano-Meeters are co-sponsored by the California NanoSystems Institute at UCSB. For information on past Nano-Meeters, click here.

Speaker Series:

The CNS frequently hosts visiting speakers who present to a Graduate Fellows seminar and wider campus and public audiences on a range of topics. For details of past speakers, click here.

Public Presentations:

CNS researchers and graduate students deliver public presentations to campus, local, regional and wider audiences about the work of the CNS-UCSB.
