Every summer, CNS-UCSB offers an 8-week intensive internship program to undergraduate students at UC Santa Barbara and California community colleges in the region. Interns are mentored by CNS Graduate Fellows. They assist in research, and at the end of the program, they make formal presentations and prepare posters about their work. Some CNS interns are part of the INSET (Internships in Nanosystems, Science, Engineering and Technology) program at the California NanoSystems Institute at UCSB. INSET is funded by the National Science Foundation as part of its Research Experiences for Undergraduates program.

 

Our interns for summer 2009 are:

Sean Bronston-Wilson, a Communication major at Santa Barbara City College. Sean is part of the INSET program and will be mentored by Kasim Alimahomed, a graduate fellow in CNS' Interdisciplinary Research Group 2 (Innovation)

 Ryan Shapiro, a Geology major at Santa Barbara City College. Ryan is part of the INSET program and will be mentored by Meredith Conroy, a graduate fellow in CNS' Interdisciplinary Research Group 3 (Risk Perception and Media).

Javier Martinez, a Spanish major at UCSB, will be mentored by graduate fellow Indy Hurt of CNS' Interdisciplinary Research Group 3 (Risk Perception and Media).

Image Andrea Tran, a History and Global Studies double major at UCSB, will be mentored by Rachel Parker and Claron Ridge, graduate fellows in CNS' Interdisciplinary Research Group 4 (Globalization of Nanotechnology).
